That was something I was worried about, I guess if anything feeding them cheerios with the koi food will extend the life of the bag so I shouldn't have to buy it so often. You can feed them occasionally, but as a staple, it won't be very healthy for them (by that, I mean not providing enough nutrition).

You can feed them cheerios 2-4 times a week, but just "supplement" it with koi food. That was something I was worried about, I guess if anything feeding them cheerios with the koi food will extend the life of the bag so I shouldn't have to buy it so often.

He has quite the set up surrounding his koi so I don't think he would be feeding them anything that would not be beneficial to them. He spends some time showing the crude analysis of the cat food bag. Pause the video there and compare to the koi food you are feeding. It might be a good alternative.Thank you! And I've never heard of feeding them cat food, however when catching minnows, I know they love dog food!
This guy is koi crazy so there might be something to this.

Well they do look beautiful and healthy, so it's something I might consider next spring! He has quite the set up surrounding his koi so I don't think he would be feeding them anything that would not be beneficial to them. I wouldn't just give cheerios, it's always best to get a staple pellet and then occasionnaly give treats.

Outside of the cheerios and koi food, I've given them the occasional orange slices which they absolutely love and devour, but I have definitely wanted to vary their diet a little with some fresh foods. I noticed you mentioned boiled veggies, what veggies specifically?I feed my Koi/Goldfish pond a wide vraiety of foods , I have a staple pellet by hikari, but I also feed them occasionally boiled whole grain rice, whole grain pasta , boiled eggs, atleast 2-3 times a week boiled veggies(very important for them) , I also sometimes mix little bit of honey in their pasta or rice. I also give frozen Bloodworms occassionaly as well.I wouldn't just give cheerios, it's always best to get a staple pellet and then occasionnaly give treats.

boil it first , chop it up to bite size pieces for them and throw it in like you would regular food ,by the time you turn around it's going to be all gone, their going to most likely go nuts for it.
